麻の葉[asa no ha]

brand concept

I want to create a memorable work by introducing the tradition
and culture of Japanese clothing and pass on that spirit.

  • I introduce Japanese kimono and yukata culture, traditions and customs by incorporating them into clothes.
  • The depth and beauty of Japan's unique culture and tradition is truly intriguing and attractive to overseas people as well as to us Japanese.
  • I want to hand on such a wonderful thing not just as clothes but its mind spirit.
背守り

The things that we Japanese had treasured have been lost in recent years.Japan has various problems. One example is parental abuse of children.

Japan once had a custom of “back protection” by sewing.“Basting” is the center of the back of the child's kimono with basting thread. It was mother’s wish for children to grow up healthfully.

In the past, there was the idea that monsters would come in from the back and bring down disasters, and monsters were a symbol of illness, accidents, and all disasters.

In the past, infant mortality was higher, and growing up to be an adult was really a pleasure for parent. The life that our ancestors desperately protected and passed on to next generationis now underestmated. Are we really aware of the preciousness of life and an overly privileged environment?I wish to hand down this spirit and its back ground. Here is just one example.

The hemp leaf pattern was used for children's clothes and kimonos with them the parents wished for children to grow up healthfully because the hemp plant is strong and has a strong fertility.

Most japanese people like hemp leaf pattern without any specific reasons. Of course I like it too. I feel charm that cannot be expressed in words. There are many traditional Japanese patterns.I would like to incorporate this mysterious charm and meaning into my clothes little by little and convey it little by little.

By understanding the wisdom and thoughts of predecessors,We may be led to the right direction, ushiromae wants to be one of those opportunities.
